Things we really value

Jesus

We’re people who take Jesus really seriously, even if we don’t take ourselves very seriously. Following Him is the best way we’ve found to live. We’re always trying to practice following him more closely.

Our Local Area

We absolutely love the Whipton estate and focus on building friendships with everyone who lives here –  community  and place are at the centre of everything we do.  We are a church by Whipton and for Whipton!

Table

Jesus did much of His best stuff around a dinner table, and we try to be a church who always eat together and invite others to Jesus’ open table – everyone is welcome in God’s Kingdom.

Life in the Holy Spirit

We love that God isn’t distant or unknowable – and our church life is built around knowing God’s presence with us through the Holy Spirit, as He leads us into ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10)

Asking Questions

Our church family is full of people at different stages of faith: some are just finding out, some feel they aren’t sure, and some are getting stuck into a deep and wonderful relationship with God –  there is space for everyone, whatever their stage of belief or unbelief.

Doing Life Together

Friendships and shared life are central to our humanity and we always try to organise church life so it is full of fun and friendships.

What We’re About

Our dream is to see God fix all the brokenness in our own lives and in the world we live in – to make this world just like heaven.

Our prayer is to see God transform us and the neighbourhoods of Whipton & Beacon Heath until they are full-to-bursting with joy, hope, health and peace. We reckon Exeter is a great place to live, but God’s got way more for us all.

Our dream is to see a Jesus house on every street in Whipton and Beacon Heath, full of Jesus-y people who love and serve their friends and neighbours in all the tiny everyday ways.

A bit about our story...

There has been a church of people worshipping Jesus in Whipton for hundreds of years, but our current St. Boniface building was built as part of the Whipton Barton council estate in the 1950s.  This is brilliant, because it means we can be a church for the community, right in the heart of the community!

In 2021 the church started a new chapter, completing a major building project and modernisation of the building, and this has allowed us to host a wide range of community groups throughout the week, to have a dedicated prayer-room, as well as to host worship every Sunday for local people. Our church is healthy and beautiful, but we feel that God has only just got started with us!

Come and play your part in the story.
